FE Funding for Activities & Projects

The intent of FE funding is to foster meaningful consultation and collaboration between MSAs and health authorities. FE funds can compensate physicians for time spent participating in internal meetings and meetings with health authority partners that align with the Facility Engagement Initiative. Secondary use of funds includes covering infrastructure costs of the MSA/physician societies (Project Manager, Coordinator, FESC fees, website/administration). FE funds cannot be used for clinical initiatives involving direct or indirect patient care.

We encourage SGH medical staff to participate in Facility Engagement activities and projects! If you have activity/project ideas or questions, please reach out to one of our friendly FE exec team members at [email protected].

Application Process
  1. Before submitting a funding proposal application, consider whether your activity/project idea meets at least one of the following MOU objectives:
    • To improve communication and relationships among the medical staff so that their views are more effectively represented.
    • To prioritize issues that significantly affect physicians and patient care.
    • To support medical staff contributions to the development and achievement of health authority plans and initiatives that directly affect physicians.
    • To have meaningful interactions between the medical staff and health authority leaders, including physicians in formal HA medical leadership roles.
  1. Complete the FE Funding Proposal Application form, which will include an activity self-assessment.
  2. The application will then be discussed with the Facility Engagement Executive to determine whether it is eligible for consideration by the SGH FE Working Group. This can take up to 1 week.
  3. Once circulated to the Working Group, applicants can expect a response within 2-4 weeks.
  4. If an activity/project is approved, funds will be allocated to that specific activity in FEMS (Facility Engagement Management System) with access granted to the participants of the activity for 1 fiscal year (April 1-March 31). Funding for successive years or top-ups will require an additional application to the Working Group.
  5. Activity Leads are responsible for providing the Working Group with quarterly updates on the status and progress of activities.
